Margaretha Bootsma
Bootsma received a BFA from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1995 and was the recipient of Canada Council Grants in 1998 and 1999. Bootsma has had solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the United States and Europe. Her works are found in many significant private and public collections. Margaretha creates work that reflects the fragile and ephemeral aspects of the shrinking natural world in which we live. Working with corroded metal panels, photographed landscapes, and encaustic colour-fields, she creates skillfully balanced multi-media works that push the viewer to examine their environment and their role within it.
