Brent Boechler

Brent Boechler is a self - taught artist who works primarily in acrylic on panel and mixed - media on paper.
His work is a multi -strata of brushed, pushed and pulled paint that concerns itself with process as much as with subject matter. In this regard, Boechler says, " In fact, I find subject far less interesting than the empty space which contains it. However, empty space is rarely that ; it is often burgeoning with life, with intense and idiosyncratic color and with fugitive light...... just look at a morning sky, one at dusk, or one from thirty thousand feet........it is full of event - and the architecture of weather. The means with which I approach this space - the process - must be regimented and planned, but it must also must be filled with chance - and hope. "
His paintings, intrinsically, are ciphers - mysteriously encoded with universal experience.
Brent Boechler's work is found in numerous private and corporate collections around the world.

Boechler's next exhibition is at Bau-Xi Gallery Vancouver April 17 - 28th, 2010. Opening reception Saturday April 17th 2-4pm. Artist in attendance.
